Ethnohistory of Akabilan as a Traditional Food of the Malaka Regency Community and Its Implementation in History Learning

Akabilan is a traditional food of the Malaka Regency community, East Nusa Tenggara, which has been passed down from generation to generation as part of local cultural identity. This study aims to examine the historical values and cultural meanings embedded in Akabilan, as well as its potential as a source of history learning based on local wisdom.
This research employs a qualitative exploratory method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation.
The findings indicate that Akabilan functions not only as a traditional food but also as a representation of the social, economic, and cultural history of the Malaka community. Furthermore, Akabilan can be utilized as a contextual source for history learning, which is capable of enhancing students’ understanding of local history and cultural identity.
